Transformed by Truth

          John 8: 31-41

Point to Ponder: The truth transforms me.

The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to make us like the Son of God. To become like Jesus, we must fill our lives with his Word.

(Mat 4:4 NIV)   Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Abiding in God’s Word is a lifestyle that includes three daily decisions.

1.)    I must accept its authority, The most important task we can do today is settle this issue of what’s going to be the ultimate authority for your life.

2.)    Decide that regardless of culture, tradition, reason, or emotion you choose the Bible as you final authority.

3.)    Determine to ask, What does the Bible say? When making decisions.

You’ll trust God’s Word and do it whether or not it makes sense, or if you feel like doing it.

(Prov 30:5 NIV)  "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

To abide in God’s Word I must do five things

1.)    Receive God’s Word  --- listen and accept it with an open, receptive attitude
2.)    Read the Bible daily ---- it will keep you in range of God’s voice.
3.)    Research or study the Bible, asking question about the text and writing down your insights.
4.)    Remember it – memorizing Bible verses will help you resist temptation, make wise decisions, build confidence, offer good advice, and share your faith with others.
5.)    Reflect daily on Scripture --- there is no other habit that can do more to make you more like  Jesus.

(John 13:17 NIV)  Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

D.L. Moody says The Bible was not given to increase our knowledge but to change our lives.

Question to Consider: What has God already told me to do in His Word that I haven’t started doing yet?
