Which Kind of Bone represents You? - 2

March 6, 2005

2.     The JAWBONE CHURCH MEMBERS

The Biblical term for this person is Talebearer

Listen to these scripture passages:

(Lev 19:16 KJV)  Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

 (Lev 19:16 NIV)  "'Do not go about spreading slander among your people. "'Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD.

(Prov 11:13 KJV)  A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

(Prov 11:13 NIV)  A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.

(Prov 20:19 KJV)  He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

(Prov 20:19 NIV)  A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

(Ezek 22:9 KJV)  In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.

(Ezek 22:9 NIV)  In you are slanderous men bent on shedding blood; in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines and commit lewd acts.

(Lev 19:16 KJV)  Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

(Prov 11:13 KJV)  A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

(Prov 18:8 KJV)  The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

(Prov 20:19 KJV)  He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

(Prov 26:20 KJV)  Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

(Prov 26:22 KJV)  The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

I heard a preacher speak on talebearing one time:

            Here were the points of the message:

A.    Favorite conversation is gossip

B.    Favorite creed of life is contention

C.    Favorite climate is confusion or conflict.

D.    Favorite commentary on life:

“What is wrong with the preacher or people of church?”

Worst part is, same person could spread the Gospel instead of Gossip

(John 8:1 NIV)  But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

(John 8:2 NIV)  At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them.

(John 8:3 NIV)  The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group

(John 8:4 NIV)  and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.

(John 8:5 NIV)  In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?"

(John 8:6 NIV)  They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.

(John 8:7 NIV)  When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

(John 8:8 NIV)  Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

(John 8:9 NIV)  At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

(John 8:10 NIV)  Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

(John 8:11 NIV)  "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

(John 8:12 NIV)  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

(Gal 5:12 NIV)  As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

(Gal 5:13 NIV)  You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature ; rather, serve one another in love.

(Gal 5:14 NIV)  The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

(Gal 5:15 NIV)  If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

(Gal 5:16 NIV)  So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

(Gal 5:17 NIV)  For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

(Gal 5:18 NIV)  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

(Gal 5:19 NIV)  The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

(Gal 5:20 NIV)  idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

(Gal 5:21 NIV)  and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

(Gal 5:22 NIV)  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

(Gal 5:23 NIV)  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

(Gal 5:24 NIV)  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

(Gal 5:25 NIV)  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

(Gal 5:26 NIV)  Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

(Gal 6:1 NIV)  Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.

(Gal 6:2 NIV)  Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

(Rom 1:29 NIV)  They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,

(1 Tim 5:13 NIV)  Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.

 (1 Th 5:8 NIV)  But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

(1 Th 5:9 NIV)  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(1 Th 5:10 NIV)  He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

(1 Th 5:11 NIV)  Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

(1 Th 5:12 NIV)  Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.

(1 Th 5:13 NIV)  Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

(1 Th 5:14 NIV)  And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

(1 Th 5:15 NIV)  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

(1 Th 5:16 NIV)  Be joyful always;

(1 Th 5:17 NIV)  pray continually;

(1 Th 5:18 NIV)  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

(1 Th 5:19 NIV)  Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

(1 Th 5:20 NIV)  do not treat prophecies with contempt.

(1 Th 5:21 NIV)  Test everything. Hold on to the good.

(1 Th 5:22 NIV)  Avoid every kind of evil.

(1 Th 5:23 NIV)  May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
