Acts 4:23—31

For the Church Prayer is:

      Power Source.

(Acts 4:23 NIV)  On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

(Acts 4:24 NIV)  When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.

(Acts 4:25 NIV)  You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: "'Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

Acts 4:26 NIV)  The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One.'

(Acts 4:27 NIV)  Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.

(Acts 4:28 NIV)  They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.

(Acts 4:29 NIV)  Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

(Acts 4:30 NIV)  Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus."

(Acts 4:31 NIV)  After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Every time the church had problems they went to prayer

Today they have problems they run somewhere else

Then they wonder why things don’t work out.

(Psa 143:1 NIV)  A psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.

b.    Provisions are provided through prayer:

(Mat 6:9 NIV)  "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

(Mat 6:10 NIV)  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

(Mat 6:11 NIV)  Give us today our daily bread.

The God gives the best to His children

But He expects us to ask

It is not selfish to ask for our daily bread

God tells us to ask for our daily bread.

Where God Guides... He Provides for your needs.

c.    Prayer prepares us for service

(Eph 6:18 NIV)  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

(James 5:16 NIV)  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

(Acts 14:23 NIV)  Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

(Psa 143:1 NIV)  A psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.

(Psa 86:6 NIV)  Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.

(Psa 54:2 NIV)  Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
