Rev. Carl H. Kemp, Pastor
Calamity of Life
In the first 3 Psalms David reminds us that a key to blessing is
Behaving (Psa 1:1 NIV) Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
Believing (Psa NIV) Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Belonging (Psa 3:8 NIV) From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.
David seems to be reflecting on the death of his son Absalom in Psalm 4.
David mourned the loss of his son but realized that he could not stay there.
The LORD lifted David above his circumstances.
